Flag Ceremony

Participating in a Summer Camps flag ceremony is a big deal to Scoutmasters. It is one of the measures other adult leaders from other troops use cast judgment on a troop. Yes, with men everything is a competition, even flag ceremonies.

Nonetheless, it the boys who do the ceremony. I am not a big fan of doing them early in the week, because the troop has not come together into summer camp form. Yet this morning we raised the flag for the camp.

August got the boys down early to the flag poles this morning. This turned out to be a good thing. The program director taught the troop the “trick” to how their flag poles worked. I was very proud how they did; Max did the call in a way the whole camp could hear. Finally, the flags went up correctly. We were rewarded by getting to eat first.
