We made it to the Big Adventure in one piece. It is amazing how far a bus can go with gas in it. It is fun for the boys of Troop 5 when they arrive at camp. The staff at Worth Ranch is friendly, but more importantly they know about Troop 5. The first year campers of the troop are excited to see older boys in their troop working camp staff. This year we have 3 boys working camp staff. It is was a mini homecoming.
Sundays at scout camp are all about checking in, paper work, health checks and the swim check. The Swim check is a rite of passage for a boy at his first summer camp. You have to jump in the pool feet first, swim 75 yard on your chest and 25 yards on using a resting stroke; and finish floating on your back.
After the swim check we took a tour of the camp. We will be heading to flag tonight, dinner and an opening campfire.
Yes it hot...
Make sure that troop guide of yours does a bang-up job - he has a legacy to live up to.

ReplyDeleteWho is the troop guide?
ReplyDeleteGood work, I hope that you each day your boys get to try and catch the greased watermelon in the lake. It was always one of my favorite memories of camp Constantine on Posuim Kingdom Lake.... Bob
ReplyDeleteIan's brother
ReplyDeleteI though maybe Ian meant the legacy of yalls awesome first troop guide at Worth Ranch back in 2002. He set the standard, even if he never amounted to much.
